The World Championship of Legends (WCL T20) is gearing up for a thrilling second edition following the success of its inaugural season. Recently, a pivotal review meeting took place in Dubai, gathering League officials and representatives from the six franchise teams to set new player eligibility criteria. This initiative aims to maintain and enhance the league’s high standards, which captivated 300 million viewers globally in its debut season.

Co-owned by Bollywood icon Ajay Devgan, the WCL has rekindled the magic of historic cricket rivalries such as India vs Pakistan and England vs Australia. The review meeting, led by WCL CEO and Founder Harshit Tomar and Chief Consultant Vivek Chandra, focused on creating a competitive and balanced league for its upcoming season. The discussions at the meeting were instrumental in establishing uniform player criteria, ensuring all teams compete on an even playing field while maintaining the league’s entertainment value. With increased fan engagement and successful matches reinforcing WCL’s reputation as a premier platform for legendary cricketers, the meeting also explored plans for the 2025 season.

Key attendees included franchise owners Jaspal Bahra and Sumant Bahl (India Champions), Praveen Sharma (England Champions), Ajay Sethi (West Indies Champions), Kamil Khan (Pakistan Champions), Puneet Singh (Australia Champions), and Harry Singh and Amandeep Singh (South Africa Champions). They strategized to expand the league’s global reach and enhance fan experiences ahead of the 2025 edition.

Adding to the excitement, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has announced his return to cricket, joining the Pakistan Champions for WCL Season 2. Known for his strategic brilliance and leadership, Sarfaraz’s participation has generated immense buzz among fans eagerly awaiting his on-field performance.

Another major highlight is the return of South African legend AB de Villiers, who will lead the Game Changers South Africa Champions. Renowned for his innovative batting and dynamic playstyle, De Villiers’ comeback has reignited excitement within the cricketing community, promising to elevate the tournament’s thrill.

Shikhar Dhawan, the celebrated Indian opener, is also making a historic comeback, joining the India Champions. His aggressive batting and charismatic presence on the field are set to add an extra layer of excitement to the league.

The WCL 2025 season kicks off on July 18 with the opening match between Pakistan Champions and England Champions at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham. Fans can expect an action-packed tournament featuring cricket legends from six nations: Pakistan, India, England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies. The much-anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash is slated for July 20, also at Edgbaston. The knockout matches will be held on July 31, with the grand final set for August 2.
